Joshua L. Larsen is Finalist for Filmed in Utah Awards

Actor and filmmaker Joshua L. Larsen is a finalist in the Screenplay for a Short or Series in the Annual Filmed in Utah Awards for his short film “Covens.”

Highland, UT – Joshua L. Larsen (28) is both an actor and filmmaker, and his short film “Covens” has been nominated as one of the finalists in the Filmed in Utah Awards. He has been nominated in the Screenplay for a Short or Series category.

The film is about a secret world, where all manner of mythical creatures exist, including werewolves and vampires. According to the film, both creatures come from Biblical history. They have been cursed by God for the treacherous acts of the original offenders. The werewolves are known as Covens, and protect mankind from the vampires, or Silvers, who are determined to destroy all humans. One Coven, Arias LaRey, stands to protect his own and mankind alike against the prevailing Silver species.

“Covens was fun to create from the beginning. From the screenplay, to casting, production, and the final editing and post production it was a fun film for everyone. We had a great cast and crew, and they all deserve credit for the success of the film,” said Larsen.

Larsen has already been in some major films and television programs, beginning with “Border Run” (“The Mule”) staring Sharon Stone, released in 2012. He then went on to perform in other top films, such as “After Earth” with Will Smith, and “Jersey Boys” a story about the musical group The Four Seasons starring Christopher Walken and directed by Clint Eastwood.

Larsen has also appeared in “The Mistle-Tones” an ABC Family television movie, as well as the web-television show “Proper Manors.”

Larsen was born in Utah, but spent 15 years of his youth in California. He majored in International Business at Utah Valley University with a minor in Theater Arts where he began his acting career in the play “Noises Off.”
