Melbourne Based Law Firm Argent Law to Offer Scholarship Program
One of Melbourne’s best-known law firms, Argent Law, has decided to invest in the future of the legal profession, helping those studying law financially. The Argent Law Scholarship Program is set to provide a $1000 scholarship to aspiring law students every year. This will be seen as the firm’s contribution to a better future for the legal profession in Melbourne. The scholarship calls out to all those creative and bright minds who have the drive to achieve success in the field of Family Law, Property Law, and Estate Law.
Applications for the scholarship have been open since August 2019 and will be closed by February 2020. The applicants need to be Australian citizens or permanent residents who are 18 years old or above. As providers of some of the finest conveyancing and property lawyers, Argent Law hopes that these aspiring lawyers can one day be part of their team. The $1000 scholarship is aimed at helping students with the purchase of textbooks and obtaining any relevant research material required over the period of their study.
Aspiring applicants will have to specify if they are interested in conveyancing, property, family or estate law. Based on the answers, the candidates will be selected. The team at Argent Law says they will be looking for applicants that show clarity of the legal fundamentals, are able to argue their case and present information in a new and innovative way. “As lawyers, you can always run into an unexpected situation. Having control of the situation is possible if you have all the information with you and are capable of thinking on your feet and arguing your case with clarity. These are the skills that we hope to find in the recipients for this application,” says Ms. Melissa Patterson, Director at Argent Law.
The leadership team at Argent Law is sifting through applications and hopes to find aspiring lawyers that have a critical understanding of real-world law application. This being the first year of the scholarship program the team already seems impressed with the number of applications coming in. Seeing the success of the program, it is said to expand later. So, next year there might be more changes in the Argent Law Scholarship Program.
