The Saber Legion Gears Up for Tournaments at CombatCon
NEW YORK – April 9, 2019 – Have you have ever used a flash light to “block a laser” or made the iconic “vroom” with your laser pointer? The Saber Legion, is an international saber combat organization that specializes in dueling with the iconic saber from everyone’s favorite sci-fi universe.
They are joining forces again at CombatCon™ to host the fourth annual saber tournament, TSL IV from August 1st – 4th at the Flamingo Las Vegas™.
The tournament is open to current members, and new members. Becoming a new member is free and simple, please fill out the paperwork online before the tournament begins and gear up with protective combat equipment.
The Main TSL IV event will be the Standard Saber bracket featuring a single saber. This in previous years has been the most popular bracket. The Exotic Saber bracket will feature standard sabers, cross guard sabers, saber pikes and dual wielding members. Joining these will be the 50+ Standard Saber bracket, for members 50 years and up, The Tag Team bracket, and the Women’s Standard Saber bracket.

The Saber Legion formed in 2015 to bring saber enthusiasts together into one community. The saber used is not a traditional weapon, so duelers don’t have to be trained in the same martial arts background to fight. This is a place that brings all walks of life together to duel in different martial arts styles through local charters all over the world. Contact a local charter to give the equipment and a saber a try.
Recently, France’s Fencing Federation has recognized saber dueling as a competitive sport. The premise is to get young people out of the house to exercise while resembling the type of saber fights seen in movies. The rules that The Saber Legion and the France Fencing Federation each use are a bit different. The Saber Legion uses martial art strategies, while the France Fencing Federation uses a sport technique. The two worlds have blended before though when the current France champion competed in last year’s TSL III tournament at CombatCon. The Saber Legion would like more people to learn about this type of combat being used, so that it can be recognized throughout the world and more enthusiasts can join together to create a larger community.
