Ward (The Ward Trinity Book 1) by Kyle Waller takes us into a world where summary execution has become the preferred fate of those who would otherwise be sent into exile. Sacramento, CA has become a place where even angels fear to tread. A land where everything from the Grim Reaper, the Mafia, Roman death cults and the angel of death are all part of life. The city of Sacramento is no longer a city but a prison and a very hard place in which to live. A place that no one could even imagine trying to live in. This book is a read that asks the question  – Up the River? Or Down in the Dirt?

I have read a lot of different books in this genre and I have to say that this is the most unique and slightly crazy one I have ever read. I am still a little bit confused as to what exactly I read, but it is that good kind of confusion. I was so sucked in by the world this book created that even within my confusion I could see myself walking with the characters. I can say it makes me scared to go to Sacramento now as well, even knowing this was just a book. I feel that if I go into too many details I will give away key points to the plot, but let me tell you that if you enjoy this genre, you will enjoy this book. It is well written with characters that are layered and well developed. I found that every once in a while the pacing was a little bit slow, but it is a minor point and it was only in select places. Beyond that, the book is well paced, well written and very entertaining.”
